SOU 4-8-2 #1469 - Southern Rwy |
Description: |
This 1917 Baldwin built 4-8-2 "Mountain" type steam locomotive was the answer for more power to pull the heavier passenger cars on the Southern Rwy. Specs - Ts class, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 314,800 lb, tractive effort of 50,290 lb. No date, location or photographer given for this photo but since it appears the green apple/gold paint scheme has not been applied to this, the photo was taken before the late 1920's when the Ts class had their repainting done. |
