| Although built to "test the waters" for replacing the aging Penn Central electric locos, the plans came to an end when the Penn Central slipped into bankruwtcy. It used the frame and running gear of an SD40-2 and could develop a diesel equivalent of 6,000 hp, perfect for low and medium speed drag freight service on the PC electric network. |
