| Sitting across from the Joliet Union Station is the UD Tower controlled by Metra whose single east/west ex-Rock Island line is to the south of the tower. To the west are two sets of tracks - ex-Gulf, Mobile & Ohio set nearest the tower and an ex-ATSF set farther west toward the Union Station. Plans have been hashed and rehashed about solving the bottleneck of Metra crossing these 4 tracks and the solution is already underway. Hope to get out to Joliet before the snow gets too deep this fall! |
