PM 0-8-0 #1303 - Pere Marquette  Contributor's Pick!
This page needed some serious revision from when it was first posted due to new information and errors in this first listing. Good looking 0-8-0 switcher built by Alco-Pittsburgh in March of 1918 for the Pere Marquette as their PM #488. It was renumbered #1303 around 1920. The small sign above the first drivers notes that it must have served the B&O Chicago Terminal when this photo was taken by R.H. Kennedy. The loco slid onto the C&O roster when the PM was finally absorbed into the C&O in 1947. It was again renumbered C&O #43. Unfortunately, the switcher met up with the scrapper's torch in October of 1951. Specs - 51" drivers (later upgraded to 52", 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 206,000 lb, tractive effort of 45,200 lb.
