ALS 2-8-2 #10 - Alton & Southern  Contributor's Pick!       
Left in its original sepia tones is this original photo of a 1925 Alco-Schenectady built Mikado that served the Alton & Southern first before heading south to the Noeste de Mexico line. Specifics - class 10, 57" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 275,000 lb, tractive effort of 53,125 lb. The locomotive was eventually sold to Noreste de Mexico and renumbered #102. It was scrapped by 1950. The photo might have been taken by photographer Eileslager.
