SOU 4-8-2 #6694 - Southern Rwy  Contributor's Pick!       
Built in 1919 by Baldwin for the Alabama Great Southern (subsidiary of Southern Rwy), this 4-8-2 Mountain-type locomotive took over passenger service from the less powerful Pacifics. Specs - class Ts-1, 69" drivers, 27 x 30" cylinders, a 200 psi boiler pressure, weighed 327,000 pounds and exerted 53,900 lbs of tractive effort.
