Beautiful photo of a Baldwin Southern Railway 4-6-2 Pacific #1409, the last of this class to be built in April of 1928. While serving as passenger power, the 4-6-2 Pacifics wore a Virginia Green paint scheme with gold lettering and stripling as seen in this builder's photo. All brass was highly polished. Specs - serial #60465 renumbered twice in its lifetime - 6482 & 6691, Ps-4 class, 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 304,000 lb, tractive effort of 47,535 lb. |
