SOU 2-8-2 #4837 - Southern Rwy         
Beautiful b&w photo of the Alco-Richmond 2-8-2 Mikado delivered to the Southern Rwy as #4837 in 1923. Specs - serial # 64839, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 326,000 lb, tractive effort of 62,949 lb. Loco #4800-04914 in the M-4 classs were scrapped between 1952-1954. No date or location was listed for the photo so date is approximate. The roundhouse in the background appears to be the Southern Asheville one. A smudged stamp appears to "Rail Phoot Service".
