A Pair of Sister Berkshires Pass By
Title:  A Pair of Sister Berkshires Pass By
Description:  The two Nickel Plate Road Berkshires, #803 & 832, both started out as Wheeling & Lake Erie locos built by Alco-Schenectady. #803 began as WLE #6403 built in April of 1937. It merged onto the NKP roster and was renumbered 803. The loco was eventually sold for scrap to Luntz Iron & Steel on May 7, 1961. #832 was built as WLE #6432 and like its sister was merged onto the NKP roster in 1952 where it was renumbered #832. It lasted until being sold for scrap to the Luntz Iron & Steel Company on Jaunary 23, 1962. No date or location was given so approximates were used. The photo is from the Howard W. Ameling collection.
