BO 4-6-0 #2028 - Baltimore & Ohio
Title:  BO 4-6-0 #2028 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:  This 4-6-0 ten wheeler was built by the Rhode Island Locomotive Works in August of 1901 as a cross-compound loco with the high pressure cylinder mounted on the right side and the low pressure cylinder on the left. The B&O Shops first rebuilt it as a simple expansion engine and reclassified as B-18a. Then later they rebuilt it by adding a superheater, piston valves and a Baker valve gear. After nearly 52 years of dedicated service to the B&O, this loco was was sent to the scrapper's torch in December of 1953. Rebuilt specs - 70" drivers, impressive 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x28" cylinders, engine weight of 173,400 lb and tractive effort of 30,000 lb. This is a Max Miller photo.

Description:  Here is another long lasting 4-6-0 ten wheeler steam locomtoie that served the Baltimore & Ohio for nearly 46 years. It was built by the Rhode Island Locomotive Works in August of 1901 as a cross-compound loco with the high pressure cylinder mounted on the right side and the low pressure cylinder on the left. The B&O Shops later rebuilt as a simple expansion engine and reclassified as B-18a. The loco was again rebuilt with the addition of a superheater, piston valves and Baker valve gears. After nearly 46 years of service, the loco was scrapped in September of 1947. Rebuilt specs - 70" drivers, impressive 200 psi boiler pressure, 21x28" cylinders, engine weight of 173,400 lb and tractive effort of 30,000 lb. This is an Arthur B. Johnson photo.

Description:  Here is one long serving, dedicated Baltimore & Ohio steam locomotive. Description:  Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-0 ten wheeler #1355 was built by the Baltimore & Ohio Mount Clare Shops in 1891. These were the first B-8 class ten wheeler locos built Baldwin followed up with 50 more in 1892. No exact retirement date was found but the entire class was gone by the 1940's. Original specs - 60" drivers, modest 170 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, modest engine wt of 140,825 lb and modest tractive effort of 25,047 lb. This is a Ralph G. Dunn photo.

Title:  BO 4-6-0 #1333 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:  A proud B&O crew pose for a photo at the Sandusky depot on July 4th, 1920. A note on the back from the photographer Glenn H. Davis, states "B&O #1333 4-6-0 class B-17 on train #4 Sandusky, Ohio, July 4, 1920 My dad is on the pilot (with folded arms)." Originally built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in March of 1901 as a Vauclain compound ten wheeler, the B&O Shops in 1904-05 converted it to a simple ten wheeler and reclassified as B-17a. The loco was retired in 1923. Original specs - class G-17, 78" drivers with 15x28 &25x28" cylinders.
