Description:  One of the 4 Alco-Brooks Hudsons built for the Nickel Plate in March of 1927, it was classified as an L-1a with 73" drivers and delivering a boiler pressure of 215 psi. In October of 1957, it was donated to Nat'l Railroad Museum in St Louis, MO - only surviving one. This is an August, 1970 reprint of C. W. Burns photo.

Description:  NKP 4-6-4 Hudson #170 was built by Alco-Brooks in March of 1927. Specs - serial #67211, class L-1a, 73" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 25x26" cylinders, engine weight of 316,500 lb, tractive effort of 40,681 lb, smoke deflectors, roller bearing eng. truck & bed. After retirement, the loco was donated to the National Transportation Museum in St Louis, MO in October of 1957. This photo is from the Howard W. Ameling collection.
