CNJ & LV Head-on Crash |
Description: |
Two accounts of this crash appear online. One states "December 26, 1965 an eastbound CNJ 32-car train which included two brand new Alco C420 LH&R units being delivered from the factory collided head-on with a westbound LV 155-car train at Laurel Run, Pa. This happened less than two months after a joint use agreement between the CNJ and LV to share tracks between Jim Thorpe and Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The collision was attributed to a dispatcher error." C.
