It was sold for scrap on January 29, 1962 to Purdy & Co. Specs - builder #8672, class S-2, 69" drivers, impressive 245 psi boiler pressure, 25x34" cylinders, engine weight of 428,500 lb, tractive effort of 64,135 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo. |

All of the S class had Worthington Type 5 SA feed water heaters, Elesco Type E superheaters, Standard Type MB stokers, Precision Type F-3 reverse gear, and 14" (356 mm) piston valves. This is a Ludlow photo but no location was listed which could be anywhere in the flatlands of the Midwest. |
