Description: |
This Altoona built switcher waits at the Canton roundhouse with a full head of steam. The photographer C. W. Burns noted on the back of the photo, "Later sold to Timken Roller Brg Co & became their Na 3016. I rode & ran this one quite a bit. 1942-43" The day of the photo is approximate. This is a May 1969 reprint of his photo. |

PRR B1 #5688 - Pennsylvania RR |
Description: |
Built in November of 1934 by the Juniata shops with the electric gear supplied by Allis-Chalmers, this little boxcab reminds me of the Lionel boxcab #520 I have although sitting much higher ln its 0-6-0 trucks. This unit survived through the Penn Central merger only to be scrapped on 5/2/1971. Based on the beat up appearance and faded keystone logo, I "guess-timation" as being 1965 since no information was written on the back. Forrest Trittenbach photo. |

A crew member crosses in front of the idle 0-6-0 yard switcher built by the Juniata Shops in November of 1926. A comment on the back of the photo states "Note regular road tender instead of usual slanting tender. This is very rare around the east." The loco was retired in August of 1957.
