Description:  With a head of steam built up and a tender loaded with coal, this Juniata Shops built 4-4-2 steamer is ready to roll out again. Built in May of 1914 (serial #2821, class E6s), the loco looks clean and sleek in this photo taken by J.R. Quinn while it sat in the Philadelphia yard. The scrapper's torch was put to it in May of 1949.

Description:  The Juniata Shops at Altoona, PA, built this 4-4-2 steamer in May of 1906 (seerial #1508, class E2d). In April of 1913, it was rebuilt into an E3sd class 4-4-2. Description:  Built by the Altoona Juniata Shops and delievered in August of 1908, this class E-3d Atlantic eventually was upgraded to a E-3sd class unit. Here it heads up "The Local" as the note by photographer Warren W. McCleary, Jr. The loco was finally retired in November of 1935. Interesting note on the back also lists it as "an approved photo from the Lacaster Ry Loco. Hist. Soc." No date was given for this photo so an approximate one was used.

Description:  Interesting reprint of an iconic Altoona Juniata Shops built 4-4-2 delivered in 1902. According to several sources, this loco set an unofficial speed record of 127.1 mph in a westbound run in June of 1905 of the crack Pennsylvania Special while near Elida, Ohio. Description:  Excellent original photo of lhe 1906 Altoona built 4-4-2 Atlantic type steam locomotive #7484 just after visiting the coaling tower to take on a fresh load of coal. The loco was rebuilt in March of 1917 and reclassified as E7s. Retirement came in February of 1935. No date, location or photographer listed for this original photo.
