Built in January of 1949 for the Bessemer & Lake Erie as their #402, this Baldwin DRS6-6-1500 was acquired by the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Rwy along with sister loco #500 in March of 1956. In Baldwin language, the "DRS" part of the model translates into diesel road switcher, the "6-6" into a 6 axles with all 6 powered and "1500" represents the 1500 hp.Date is approximate and an unknown photographer captured this unit. |
