OIM HH1000 #900 - Oliver Mining Co |
Description: |
Nice color slide of the Alco HH1000 built in June of 1940 for the Oliver Mining Co and still plugging away as of 2002. The lorizontal stripes enhances that long nose model. With some help from Alan Fricker (see commet below), I did track down this beauty's current location and it is now in the collection of the Lake Superior RR Museum in Duluth, MN. Glad it has been preserved! Mark Simonson slide |

MILW Alco HH1000 #1670 - Milwaukee Road |
Description: |
Here is a rare photo of Milwaukee Road HH1000 #1670 built by Alco in April of 1940 originally as their Alco Demo #1000 (serial #69177). The "HH" stands for high hood and the HH1000 series was replaced by the Alco S2 switchers in their line up. A few online sources have another HH1000 listed as MILW 1671 (serial #69178) which was ordered after this one was built. but later renumbered MILW 820. The photo was taken by Fred Ziebe. |
