Description:  Looking like a wintry photo from the early 1900's, this was actually taken in 1966. Purchased new from Alco-Schenectady in 1925, this loco served the McCloud River RR and McCloud River Rwy before being sold to the Oregon Coast Scenic RR in March of 2011. Along the way, the photogenic locomotive starred in three movies - Bound For Glory, Stand By Me, & Changeling. It continues to provide excursion service at its new home in Oregon. Title:  MILW 2-8-2 #345
Description:  This good looking USRA heavyweight Mikado was originally built by Alco-Brooks in October of 1918 as CM&StP #8640 but was renumbered in 1938 to MILW 345. After nearly 37 years of service, the loco was retired in April of 1955 - one of the last in the L-3 class to be scrapped. Specs - L3 class, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine wt of 320,000 lb and tractive effort of 62,949 lb. This is an Harold K. Vollrath photo.

Title:  MILW 2-6-2 #901 - Milwaukee Road
Description:  Built by ALCO-Brooks in October of 1907, it originally carried the CM&StP #1904. In 1912, it was renumbered CMStP #5004 and again as CMStPP (MILW) #5004. Finally in 1938, it was renumbered one more time to MILW #901. After nearly 46 years of service the loco was retired and scrapped in February of 1953. Originally built in 1907 as #1941,#it was renumbered to 5041 in 1912, and renumbered again to 911 in 1938. Specs - class K1, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 205,550 lb, tractive effort of 34,926 lb. Description:  This Alco-Rogers Prairie-style locomotive would have run well on the Midwest Wabash lines. It was a class G1-64", denoting its 64" drivers in comparison to later ones with 70" drivers. Title:  NP 2-6-2 #2456, Northern Pacific Rwy
Description:  This original 1907 Alco, class T, was rebuilt in 1920 to a class T-1. It had 63" drivers and developed 200 psi boiler pressure. Although the tender looks spotless, the loco looks like it has been used heavily. Unfortunately no date or location were given for the photo.

Description:  Fine example of a rebuild done by the Northern Pacific shops in Brainerd, MN in the late 1920's. The shops used a T class 2-6-2 built in 1906 by Alco-Brooks and superheated it along with other changes to improve tractive effort. New specs -reclassified as T-1, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21.5x28" cylinders, engine weight of 208,500 lb, tractive effort of 34,926 lb. No photographer listed for the photo.
