CRIP E9A #665 - Rock Island |
Description: |
Nice acton shot of Rock Island #665 in commuter service to Joliet, IL. Built by EMD in January of 1956 as Union Pacific #905, the unit along with 3 other sisters (CRIP #662-664) was purchased from UP in 1969 for commuter service. According to the Rock Island Technical Society, #665 had no steam generator and was solely used as a head end power unit. It's gear ratio was 55/22 with a max speed limit of 98 mph. An unknown Chicago photographer took the photo. The date is approximate. |

Sharp looking unit built by EMD in December of 1955 as CBQ #9985A. The loco then bounced to BN as first their 9985 and then renumbered 9915 before landing at the NYSW. Unknown photographer. The location was not given but Ted Krug was able to identify the location. |

Description: |
Heading up a long string of varnish is Illinois Central E9A #4034 built by EMD in 4/1954. The loco moved onto the ICG roster as #4034 and eventually landed on the Amtrack roster as 4034 there. Final disposition is unknown. The original photo was from the Conniff collection and now resides in my collection. |
