Beautiful original photo of the 1903 Rogers 2-8-0 Consolidaton built for the Illinois Central. Specs - Class 651, 56.5" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x28" cylinders, engine weight of 183,000 lb, tractive effort of 33,699 lb. Rebuilt by IC shops in 1920 - superheater added, slide valves were replaced by 9" piston valves that were driven by Baker radial valve gear. unknown photographer |
