Built by GE in March of 1966, CRIP U28B #245 lasted until the collapse of the Rock Island. Unfortunatly, no date, locatjon or photographer was given for this newly posted photo. I would suspect this photo was taken at the Silvis, IL shops area and at the end of the Rock Island. Note the scratched up number board. The last view of CRIP #245 in 1987 in the RRPA database shows it sitting abandoned in the Silvis, IL yard - faded, rusted and its engine doors stading open. |

| Description: |
Built by GE in February of 1966, this U28B is caught resting in an unknown yard. Only note I could find on it was that it was scrapped and with Alan Fricker's help (see comment below), it was retired in 1989 and sold for scrap to Naporano.Iron & Metal Works in Newark, NJ. The date and location are approximations and no photographer was listed. |
