French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Title:  French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Description:  In 1987, initial planning to restore the trolly system was undertaken by the Indiana Rwy Musem. The museum was able to find a trolley car very similar to the original FLWB one in Portugal. After massive reworking and restoring, the 1930 Portugal built trolley resembles the 1903 trolley.

French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Title:  French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Description:  The French Lick # West Baden trolley #1 heads around the curved side of the new casino. The trolley #313 found by the indiana Rwy Museum which looked similar to the original one was brought over from Portugal in 1986-7. It was rebuilt with the cupola added to resemble the original FLWB trolley from 1903. A diesel engine instead of the original electric catenary system and an hydrostatic transmission was installed to permit easier use making the original catenary power system unnecessary

Title:  French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Description:  The throttle of the 1930 trolley sits on the control panel which has labels in Portuguese. Surprisingly, the control panel at opposte end of the trolley has its markings in English! When the trolley has to switch directions for a return trip, the throttle handle is removed and carried to the opposite end control panel.

French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Title:  French Lick & West Baden Trolley #1
Description:  The opposite end control panel from the previous photo shows the console markings in English, rather than the Portuguese at the opposite end. Note the throttle handle is missing. The conductor moves it to the end he needs according to the direction he wants to head. Hence, the trollwy is never turned around but instead does the "ping pong" action, much like the old Lionel toy trolley with its reversing bumper.

FCMR Trolley #22 - Fort Collins Municipal Rwy
Title:  FCMR Trolley #22 - Fort Collins Municipal Rwy
Description:  My new wife of less than a year inspects the controls in the Fort Collins Municipal Rwy trolley #22. This car was built by the American Car Company of St Louis in 1919 for Fort Collins, CO. After retirement, it was purchased by the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club in 1953 and eventually ended up at the Colorado RR Museum from 1958 to 1994. The Rocky Mountain Railroad Club began leasing No. 22 to the Pikes Peak Historical Street Railway Foundation (PPHSRF), in Colorado Springs, and the car was moved there in 1995. When the 10-year lease expired, the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club agreed to sell the streetcar to the PPHSRF, which has a short section of operational streetcar line. In 2007, PPHSRF, now doing business under the name of the former Colorado Springs & Interurban Railway (CS&IR), changed No. 22's current identity by giving it a new paint scheme and renumbering it as CS&IR No. 135. The trolley has gone through quite a few changes since I took this photo in 1976.
