LN GP9 #545 - Louisville & Nashville |
Description: |
This EMD GP9 locomotive turns out to be quite a boomer as it bounced from one railroad roster to another during its service. Originally built by EMD in February of 1957 as Chicago & Eastern Illinois #238, it became MP #345, TP #345 before landing on the Louisville & Nashville roster as their #545. It didn't stop there as it eventually became SCL #2413. No photographer, date or location was listed for this b&w slide. However, with C&EI boxcars in the background, it is most likely Evansville where the C&EI interchanged with the L&N. The date is approximate and set before its renumbering as a SCL member in 1971. |

Caught these two Pioneer Rail Equipment loaners rolling along US 51 just north of Assumption, IL. Nice looking pair so I decided to turn around and dog them for awhile. |

A pair of New York, New Haven & Hartford GP9's heads up train #71 in this color slide by an unknown photographer. Unusual consits behind. Are those milk cars behind the open door baggage car? |

NH GP9 #1203 - New York, New Haven & Hartford RR |
Description: |
Delivered to the New Haven by EMD in July of 1956. Max Miller photo had the location as Jersey City, NJ with a date of 3/28/1961. However, thanks to Warren Evans (see comment below), the date and location are much different. I believe Warren is on the "right track" - pun intended! |
