GBW RS3M #308 - Green Bay & Western
Title:  GBW RS3M #308 - Green Bay & Western
Description:  Built by ALCO in June of 1955 as Green Bay & Western RS3 #308, the unit served the Green Bay & Western line well. It was rebuilt and upgraded in 1974 including the installation of an ALCO 251 prime mover. The how was lowered and reclassified as an RS20. In 1993, it was acquired by the Wisconsin Central but sold to the Kankakee, Beaverville & Southern in 1994. The loco was finally purchased by the Monticello Rwy Museum in Monticello, IL where it was repainted in the original GBW red paint scheme. This photo was taken by Richard H. Berry after the 1974 rebuild, bright red repainting and reclassification as an Alco RS3M (RS20) around early 1976. This was taken from his original negative now in my collection.

The D&H later nicknamed these locos as "Club Foots" since they tended to slip under heavy loads. No date or location was given for the photo so approximates were used. No photographer was listed.
