Title:  SLSF 2-8-0 #976 - St Louis-San Francisco
Description:  Built by Baldwin in December of 1906 (serial #29692), this Frisco 2-8-0 Consolidation #976 led a very productive service record of nearly 44 years until it was retired and scrapped in September of 1950. Description:  Sadly this photo shows the once useful Frisco 2-8-0 Consolidation #979 sitting in the scrap line awaiting the scrapper's torch which was applied during this month of 1948. This would literally be the last picture of it before disappearing in the cutting flames at the Springfield, MO, yard. Built by Baldwin in December of 1906, it had served the SLSF well for nearly 42 years. Description:  This loco has the distinction of being one of the longest surviving class 970 2-8-0 Consolidation having served until being scrapped in June of 1951. Most in the class were hit by the scrapper's torch in the late 1940's. Built by Baldinw in 1906 (serial #29797), it served for nearly 45 years.
