History - Built by Baldwin in March 1896 as Florence & Cripple Creek #8 (c/n 14769) and named "Goldfield". Afteer the F&CC closed, the loco was sold to D&RG and became their #428 (class 72) in 1917. The loco was renumbered DRGW #318 in 1924 (reclassified as C-18). After retirement, the loco was donated to Colorado RR Museum in 1954. No exact date, location or photographer was given but it appears that the slide was taken in early 1950's. |
