IC 4-8-2 #2411 - Illinois Central
Title:  IC 4-8-2 #2411 - Illinois Central
Description:  Nice photo from a direct scan of the original negative and it appears that it is newly delibered 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive built by Alco-Schenectady in 1923. No date or location was given but with Mary Rae McPherson's help (see comment below), I now believe it was taken in Chicago, IL, possibly 27th Street. The date is possibly 1923 as it appears to be a newly delivered locomotive. Specs - class 2400, builder #64580, 73.5" drivers, impressive 225 psi boiler pressure, 24x28" cylinders, engine wt 362,500 lb, tractive effort of 57,120 lb. Unknown photographer.
