NKP 4-6-4 #173, Nickel Plate (New York, Chicago & St. Louis RR)
Title:  NKP 4-6-4 #173, Nickel Plate (New York, Chicago & St. Louis RR)
Description:  Doing what is was meant to do - pulling a string of passenger cars down the track- this 1927 Alco-Brooks Hudson looks great. Unfortunately, no date or location was listed for this photo but from the flat land it definitely looks like a Midwest farm area. She faired better than her sisters - she was sold to Louisiana Eastern on 3/31/61 thus surviving longer than most of the others. Only #170 donated to the National RR Museum in St Louis lasted longer.

NKP 4-6-4 #173 - Nickel Plate Road
Title:  NKP 4-6-4 #173 - Nickel Plate Road
Description:  Smoke deflectors added in May of 1946 and the white sidewalls gave this beautiful Alco-Brooks built 4-6-4 Hudson a European locomotive look. Shame the profile was cut off. The loco was built in March of 1927 and served well through the years. Unfortunately this beautiful machine was sold for scrap on March 31, 1961. No date, location or photographer was listed on this older reprint.
