CNJ 0-8-0C #275 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:
Caught standing in an unidentified yard ( possibly Bethlehem, PA) is this Alco-Schenectady 0-8-0 camelback switcher was built in December of 1913 as CNJ 275. Thanks to the research efforts of Chuck Zeiler, we have few more details about this unique loco. It was reclassified as an E1 in 1919 and again in 1945 as class 8553. Description:
Edward H. Weber caught this beautifully ugly 0-6-0 "beast" in a storage line at an unidentified spot. The loco was built by the CNJ shops sometime between 1912-15. The B4 class which this loco was in were scrapped between 1945-54 so this very well may be the scrap line instead of spare loco line. No exact location or date given for the photo.

Here is another example of a 1914 Montreal Locomotive Works built 4-6-4T tank loco used in commuter service in Montreal until&retirement. It was captured at the Grand Trunk Turcot roundhouse, long since torn down for an expressway. This loco have been preserved at the Exporail (Canadian Rwy Museum) in Saint-Constant, Quebec, Canada. CN 4-6-4T #45 - Canadian National
Description:
Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1914 for the Grand Trunk, the six locomotives in the X-10-a class were used in commuter service in Montreal where they ran until they were retired in 1956-1961. In this photo, it was caught steamed up and ready at the Grand Trunk Turcot roundhouse, long since torn down for an expressway. CIM RS1325 #30 - Chicago & Illinois Midland
Description:
Acccording to note attached to the photo by Jim Boyd, "C&IM #30 & #31 are the worlds only EMD RS1325's. They are in theory a small geep: in practice, an overgrown siwtcher. They have not been a resounding success as either a switcher or as road power: but whatever they are, they are thoroughally (sic) interesting." Specs - EMD, 1960, prime mover was EMD 567D1, 12 cylinders, 52'2" length, 10'6 7/8" width, 14'7" height, weight of 112 tons.

Description:
Built by American Car & Foundry Co in 1937, this is a steel sided cupola caboose painted in the blue paint scheme. No date was given for this slide, but the blue appears only in 1982 in the RRPA data base. Specs - 37'9" length, 9'2" width, 14'8" height, weight of 46,000 lb, Battendorf trucks. No photographer listed.

CIL 4-6-2 #421 - Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon)
Description:
Here is an original photo left in its sepia color of the 1909 Alco-Brooks 4-6-2 Pacific #421. Originally it carried the number CIL 401 but was renumbered in 1911 to CIL #421. Note on the back states that it is heading up train 6. Specs - serial #46235, class K-3, 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22x28" cylinders, engine weight of 205,000 lb, tractive effort of 31,559 lb. The class was later superheated and eventually all three in the class were off the roster by 1947. CIL #421 was retired on 10/4/1041. No photographer listed.

CIL 2-10-2 #604 - Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon)
Description:
An original photo of the 1914 Alco built 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive loaded with coal at an unidentified location, porbably Lafayette yard area. As the Monon's fortunes declined in the late 1930s, four of the eight 2-10-2's were sold to the Tennessee RR in 1944-45 and the others were scrapped between 1941-47.CIL #604 was one sold for scrap in October of 1946. Specs - class L-1, 57" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 341,000 lb, tractive effort of 66,640 lb. Unknown photographe and no date or location given for the photo.
