A line of Conrail GG1's
Title:  A line of Conrail GG1's
Description:  Beautiful action shot of four Conrail GG1's heading up a line of freight cars with CR #4867 taking the point. This was just a couple years before a lot of the GG1's were retired. Once the sleek symbol of Pennsy passenger speed, the GG1's later were relegated to freight duties. A note on the back of the photo by photographer D. Woodland states "Symbol freight PGPI. 10 am westbound."

CR GG1 #4869
Title:  CR GG1 #4869
Description:  The stylish and streamlined body of this GG1 stills stands out as a testiment to both Raymond Loewy and Donald Dohner influences, even while this beautiful locomotive sits in a scrap line at the Enola, PA, yard. Built by Altoona and Westinghouse in December of 1938, it went on to serve the Pennsy as well as Penn Central and finally Conrail before receiving its "pink slip" of retirement in February of 1980. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor documented its place in the GG1 scrap line two years after retirement.
