Description:  With its steam up and a full load of coal in the tender, CN 4-6-0 #1117 is just waiting for its next assignment. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1912 as Canadian Narothern 4-6-0 #117, it was renumbered CN 1117 in 1919 upon the railroad mergers. After nearly 44 years of service, the loco met the scrapper's torch in June of 1956. Description:  This well maintained, shiny clean 4-6-0 was built by the Montreal Locomoitve Works in 1912 originally as Canadian Northern #1119 but after the Canadian railroad mergers in 1919, it was renumbered CN 1119. Between 6-1956-8/1957 it was renumbered again as CN 1500. The loco was scrapped in August of 1961. Description:  Long before a diesel wore the CN 1129 number, this 4-6-0 ten wheeler had the honor. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1912 originally as Canadian Northern 4-6-0 #1129, it was renumbered in 1919 to CN 1129 after the railroad mergers were finiished. The loco served well for nearly 48 years before being sent to the scrapper's torch in March of 1960 - quite a long record of service! Description:  Still wearing its white sidewalls, this sharp looking 4-6-0 ten wheeler takes a turn at heading up a freight train near Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. The classy loco was built by the Montreal Locomoitve Works in 1913 originally as Canadian Northern #1133. After the consolidation of railroads, the loco was renumbered CN 1133 in 1919. After nearly 43 years of dedicated service, it was sent to the scrapper's torch in March of 1957. Description:  Here is one sharp looking 4-6-0 ten wheeler with its steam up, tender filled and just itching for its next assignment! Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1913 originally as Canadian Northern 4-6-0 #1148, it was renumbered in 1919 to CN 1148 after the mergers were done. This good looking loco headed up both passenger and freight trains during its nearly 42 years of service. It was sent to the scrapper's torch in March of 1955. Description:  N 4-6-0 #1370 takes a ride on an unidentified turntable. The shiny loco was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1912 as Canadian Northern Rwy #1370 but became CN 1370 in the 1919 reorganization. In November of 1956, it was renumbered again to 1560. Specs - Serial #50794, class H-6-g, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, engine weight of 173,000 lb, tractive effort of 28,063 lb. The loco was scrapped in March of 1960. Description:  Looks like a three generation effort in hand turning CN #1383 on this manual roundtable at an unidentified location. With Bruce Gemmel's help (see comment below) this is Penetang, Ontario, near Penetanguishene in Simcoe County, Ontario. RRPA doesn't recognize the location. Note two more are pushing to the far right of the pic. Took a lot of muscle to get this 1912 Montreal Locomotive Works built ten wheeler turned! The loco was eventually scrapped in October of 1961. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo but Bruce Gemmel (comment below) identifies the photographer as Don Wood. Thanks, Bruce, for all your help!!!

Description:  According to www.Steamlocomotive.com, this little 10 wheeler was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1912 for Canadian National. It somehow ended up at the Coopersville & Marn Rwy. According to their website, "It's actually a decent candidate for operational restoration - the boiler is very good, and most of the parts are intact (in storage off-site)"

No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo but Bruce Gemmel located the photo info. It was taken by Rob Sandusky on October 13, 1952. Ian Wilson noted that #1397 has just left the moving its mixed train to the station to board express and passengers for Beeton on the infamous Alliston Subdivision, "20 mph forward, 20 mph side up and down." Description:  The engineer of CN 4-6-0 #1532 takes the curve in fronto of the impressive but unidentified town's post office. With Bruce Gemmel's help (see comment below), this is Palmerston, Ontario. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1910 as Canadian Northern #263, it eventually landed on the CN roster as their #1324 but renumbered again in August of 1956 as #1532 seen here. Serial #49877, class H-6-d. The loco was scrapped in March of 1960 after 50 years of service. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo but Bruce Gemmel (see comment below) believes this may be photographer Jim Shaughnessy..

Description:  CN 4-6-0 #1532 stands by an unidentified passenger station kicking out the smoke plume, probably to the disgust of the lady whose wash is hanging out of the line in the background. Built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1910, the loco served first the Canadian Northern Rwy as their #263 (later renumbered 1324) and Canadian Natioanl as their 1324 before being renumbered #1532 in August of 1956. The loco was finally retired in March of 1960 after nearly 50 years of service. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo. Built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1911 (serial #49889, class H-6-d), it served until retirment and scrapping in October of 1961 after 50 years of service. Description:  Great winter action scene taken by an unknown photographer as an unidentified depot. The loco, CN 4-6-0 #1576, started out as Canadian Northern #1390 but became CN #1390 in 1919 and then renumbered CN #1576 in August of 1956. The loco was built by the Montreal Locomotive Works in 1913 (serial #52647, class H-6-g) and lasted until retirement and scrapping took place in March of 1960.
