ERIE Baldwin S12 #617 |
Description: |
Built by Baldwin in 2/1951 as the first of twelve S12's, it served as a yard switcher at Salamanca, NY well. On the merger of Erie & DLW, it became EL 617. Utilizing a turbocharged 6-cylinder version of the powerful 606A diesel prime mover, S12s were known for their "lugging" power, despite being temperamental. No photographer was listed for the photo. |

Title: |
ERIE S12 #625 |
Description: |
Delivered by Baldwin in April and May of 1952, it appears to have been heavily used before this photo was taken. Date and location were listed om the back of the photo, not sure how valid these are considering it is still wearing just the Erie name. |
