Sitting as if on display at the Conway yard turntable are two newly delivered SD50's that Conrail had ordered to solve the power shortage. A total of 135 SD50 units would be ordered by CR in the three years making it the 2nd largest owner of SD50's behind CSX who had 144 units. After the CR breakup, #6716 would become NS 5410 while #6703 would add to the CSX group as their #8644. CR conductor Ken Taylor took this color slide. |
