Sitting as if on display at the Conway yard turntable are two newly delivered SD50's that Conrail had ordered to solve the power shortage. A total of 135 SD50 units would be ordered by CR in the three years making it the 2nd largest owner of SD50's behind CSX who had 144 units. After the CR breakup, #6716 would become NS 5410 while #6703 would add to the CSX group as their #8644. CR conductor Ken Taylor took this color slide. |

| Description: |
Note the side scraped under the cab window and the mangled handrailing behind. Looks like this SD50 unit was involved in a sideswipe accident of some kind. Nevertheless, the unit was repaired and after the CR breakup, moved onto the NS roster as their 5410. CR conductor Ken Taylor took the color slide while in the Conway yard. |
